    I only see "whilst" used by speakers of British English; Americans do not use it even in formal speech although we would certainly understand it if someone used it. American speakers use "while" for sharing the same time. Example: She works while he sleeps. "Whereas" expresses contradiction; something is different. Example: This store sells organic produce whereas that one does not..

    "Whereas" is much more common in writing than in speech.
